band reunion-a-thon continues
Hot on the heels of this comes the (alleged) news (well, a story in The Sun so the term ‘news’ is used loosely) that Led Zeppelin is looking at reforming to tour the United States.
As if that wasn’t enough, it looks certain that Rage Against the Machine are reforming for the Coachella Festival (which once again boasts an absolutely massive lineup of top bands).
And of course let’s not forget the “best band in the world… ever” (well, according to their label’s promo site), who are currently rolling around the world on tour.
Is it all about money? Does it matter if it is? Should these bands leave their legacies safe from the possibility of a half-arsed reunion tour or mediocre reunion album?
UPDATE: Add the Police to the ever growing list. At this rate can a Rolling Stones reunion be far off?
How much will it cost to go and see any of the above mentioned bands? Start saving !
My ultimate reunion would have been Syd Barrett back with Pink Floyd, pre Glimour (who gets right up my nose). Sadly a bit late for that now…..
I have just been reading about the excruciating process of buying tickets for Glastonbury 07. Last and only time I went was way back in the late 80′s. I will, however, go to Glastonbudget instead because that’s the closest us mere mortals will get to seeing most of the big name bands nowadays.

Zeppelin will cost $400 or thereabouts no doubt and tickets will sell out several nanoseconds after they go on sale. Would be cool though – I’m glad it’s Bonham’s son and not Dave Grohl, who was allegedly going to play in a Zeppelin reunion at one point.
Re Pink Floyd, Roger Waters is touring Australia at the moment belting out most of their best of back catalogue, no doubt charging an arm and a leg for it too.
