poll update: labor still a long way ahead

The first AC Nielson poll since Rudd became opposition leader confirms the trend from other recent polls.  Rudd’s personal popularity is very high, and the ALP is polling well as a whole.

Graphs and analysis on Oz Politics here.  Rudd is predictably repeating the message that polls are unimportant, whilst there is a perceptible increase in the use of the phrases “economic credentials/ management/ record” from the other side of the aisle – as the Age notes, the economy remains the one big issue on which the Government is far ahead of the ALP.
