If it is safe to do so, take your pets with you. Put large pets on a leash, even if you don’t normally use one. You can carry your cat in a cotton pillow case.

You can read more from NineMSN here. It seems like poor advice – any cat owner would no doubt be able to tell you that the rampaging forces of terror and nature are nothing compared to the fury of a feline in a bag.

launch attacks of their own.

When the terror threat-level is at ’sapphire’ or above it is
recommended that you keep your cat in a bag at all times ready
for rapid deployment.

If a plastic bag is used, your emergency plan should include punching
breathing holes in the bag (where time and terror levels permit).
