manage your digital rights
I came across this very informative summary of the current (purported) rights that various on-line communities claim over the content you, the user, uploads. For example, Facebook’s terms of service are completely horrendous, whereas Flickr is relatively respectful of your rights. I say “purported” because whether some of the stuff in these agreements would stand up in court is another question entirely.
Corporations are hell bent on managing their own “digital rights”, so as a user you might as well stay informed so you can manage your own. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off to take all my photos down from Facebook…

I think the entire ordeal is a bit of a misunderstanding. Facebook likely wanted to make sure they were protected and it ended up getting blown out of proportion. With that being said, Facebook reverted their ToS changes last night.
